Check out our Map based competitions

We’re a big fan of competitions here at Walker Tracker. They help you visualize your progress over a period of time. You can compete as a team or as an individual while poking friendly jibes at each other. Alternately, you can have your own private party, where you (or just you and your friends) are the star of the competition.

Our maps can cover actual distance (each step you take is one step on the map) or we can use a multiplier (each step you take is 17 steps on the map) for longer/larger distances that need to be completed in a short amount of time.

We have a wide variety of maps (ADMINS: Ask about our Featured Challenges) that can have themes, storylines, or simply walking from one city to the next. If you are one of our PRO's in our community site you will be able to choose from maps we have uploaded already with pins, or make a map competition of your own.

Here's an example of our map "Unusual USA"

You can see that it's an active competition because there are competitors traveling along the trail. You will not be able to see other people unless you are active in the competition yourself.

As you walk along, milestones are revealed to you, adding a sense of discovery to your journey. The information for the milestones is also emailed to you and your competitors to let you know that you've passed one.

I want to create a competition to walk coast to coast in Canada (Halifax to Victoria). There isn't an existing map. Can I create one? I have Walker Tracker Pro.

    Hi Joslyn -

Unfortunately walkers can't create their own maps at this time - however! We just happened to have an Across-Canada map - I've installed it now, so you should be able to see it when you create a competition. Its got a multiplier on it, meaning the actual distance is shortened (~600,000 steps vs 7 million).

    Best,

    Ben

    Me again!

My competition has started and I have a group of people who have joined. It's proceeding as a true competition. Is there a way to add everyone's steps together to show the progress of everyone together. This is not a competition, really but the group effort to the goal.

    Hi Joslyn -

You could certainly start a goal-based challenge (where everyone is striving for a goal, and there are multiple winners), and then add up everyone's totals in the competition.

Alternately, you could add everyone into a single group, and then have a group-based competition and just include that one group. That would do it for you.

    Thanks,

    Ben
