"My problem that I am having is that it appears to me that on Tuesdays our numbers seem to go down and not increase like most of the teams. It also seems that number are up towards the end of the week and then come on Monday morning they are still up but on Tuesday morning (after Mondays are added) they go down. I understand about taking averages and it may vary but I have a real problem with our numbers going down.

Two examples:

Tuesday, 10/12,- 418,504, total. Monday was a holiday. We all put in our steps on Tuesday for Monday, Sunday, Saturday, Friday.

Wednesday, 10/13 - 385,739, total (steps went down over 32,000)

Monday, 10/18 - 511,585, put in weekend steps

Tuesday, 10/19 - 504,128 (steps went down over 7,400 steps even after putting in our weekend steps) I do understand that steps are added in  until that evening."

Great question. 

Keep in mind the competition is by group averages. So here's how this works.
Say a group has five members.

If a user hasn't yet entered a step entry - we don't penalize the group. We give that member up to 7 days to have an entry count for her/his team.

So as an example:
two members enter step entries of 10,000 and 20,000  for an average of 15,000

Two days later when the remaining three people get around to entering step entries of:
5,000 10,000 and 5,000

We re-compute the average based around all the numbers. So that initial average of 15,000 drops to 10,000.
That's why in a competition it can appear as though some past days go down. You're not losing steps, I promise! It's just a matter of everyone's averages being computer - some days may go up.
